 LEARN HOW TO LAY SOD

Learn how to lay sod on your own. Planting sod and grass is much easier than you think! Below, we’ll break down how you can lay your own sod for a beautiful Texas lawn. Once your yard is ready for sod, the installation process is quite simple. Depending on the size of your particular project, it should only take a day or so.

Before you lay sod to soil, rake the area to ensure the surface is level. It should be about 1 inch below any paved pathways or the sidewalk. In summer months, it’s helpful to lightly wet the area. This cools the ground before you lay down the new grass. However, it’s important to avoid getting the soil too wet. A muddy area only inhibits your work.

 ROLL YOUR SOD

After you water, the ground should be firm yet soft. Fill a sod roller with water and cover the lawn several times. Typically, hardware stores rent out sod rollers by the day. At a minimal cost, they are easy to transport without water.

Rolling the sod helps to mesh the seams of the blocks. Furthermore, it helps to establish roots by pressing the sod into the soil and evening out the ground.
