Let’s make one thing clear: grass is not a business to us, it’s a passion.
Curtis discovered his love of grass at the ripe age of 15. From this early age, he was infatuated with the business of grass and the transformative power that beautiful grass can have on a property.
From the farming, to trucking, to working with customers, Curtis always knew that one day he would own his own sod store … and sure enough, he did.
Working his way through high school and Texas A&M college, Curtis saved up enough money to open a small grass shop in 2006 in Conroe, Texas.
His goal for The Grass Store was very simple – to supply his local community with world class grass.
Two years after opening the store, Cherie joined the team and (not so coincidentally) The Grass Store began to take off. Along with becoming a grass expert herself, Cherie took over the landscape materials side of the operation helping to diversify and further expand the business.
Nowadays, Curtis knows to get out of the way and let Cherie do her thing in the yard. It’s what’s best for their business … and their marriage.
Sixteen years and thousands of satisfied customers later, Curtis and Cherie are still as passionate as ever about their work. Despite the growth of The Grass Store, Curtis and Cherie have never forgotten the hard work and sacrifice it took them to get where they are today.
While a lot has changed since they first started, one thing remains the same: their steadfast commitment to selling world-class grass to their greater Houston community.
